View Full Version : Carbon in reactor not settling properly

Hello,

I'm running carbon in a TLF phosban reactor. Rather than sitting on the bottom with the top tumbling nicely half my carbon is rammed up at the top reactor.

I am assuming this is because I have too much flow but when the pump is shut off or reduced it still clumps that way.

Any suggestions on how to rectify this or does is even matter?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I don't think it is a problem, though. You want phosban to settle so it doesn't break up into smaller sizes and leach into the tank. Carbon is bigger and shouldn't escape into the tank so I think we're safe.

Too much carbon or too much flow.

The carbon should be an inch past the START of the TLF label.

If the carbon is at the top of the reactor tumbling, you will have a nice black film over EVERYTHING in your tank in a day or two. Trust me.

use a smaller pump 120 gph or so.
