What can I do to get rid of bubble algae?

Lots of posts on this subject.

Use the same procedures for controlling other algae (focus on water quality issues like nitrate/phosphates). Manually remove it on a frequent basis and try not to break the bubbles when you are removing it.

If a particular rock is "bad" then place it in a bucket of SW and scrub off the bubbles ... then rinse the rock in another bucket with clean SW before placing it back into the tank.

Tough to fully eliminate bubble algae from a tank ... many just live with a minor infestation.

Isn't there a certain fish that likes to eat it?

Well, theoretically (I have heard but not experienced) red sea sailfin tangs and rabbitfish eat it.

Emerald crabs are known to eat it too.

I had bubble algae pretty bad. I bought 6 emerald crabs and after about 3 weeks no more bubble algae!! You just have to make sure that you don't have any fish that eat crabs...LOL

Also make sure you don't have snails, or you won't have them anymore! My emerald ate half my snails. The rest of them are fast! On a more positive note, my bubble algae problem is now minimal.

I had to buy several emerald crabs until I found some that would actually eat the bubble algae. I also started running phosban and carbon around the same time and ALL of my bubble algae has been completely eliminated and has not returned for 2 months.

Where you running this in a Reactor or a bag in the sump?

Its always best to eliminate pest by attacking the source. May it be nitrates, phosphates. Adding livestock to eradicate problems can and will lead to other issues. JMO

FYI.. I run a mix of carbon and phosban in a reactor.
