depends on from what direction - if you are flying in from newark - you could take a detour off the Garden state Parkway and find tropiquarium Trop (http://www.tropiquarium.com/default.asp)
Neat place to take a look at given the huge display tanks.
if from philly - then The Hidden Reef is supposedly really nice (i have yet to make it there).

I will arrive at Philly airport and drive to Atlantic City. I am staying around the casino area. I will stop by Hidden Reef. Thanks Phil519.

actually - there really isn't anything "on the way" - everything is slightly off the beaten path.
The only thing in NJ that could be considered "on the way" might be Pets Plus in Delran - again I've never been there (i'm up in central jersey).
captain nemos is in norristown, pa.
Adventure Aquarium is not a pet shop - it's a public aquarium in camden, nj. Not the best neighborhood but the place is supposedly really nice to see. There's also a much smaller aquarium in atlantic city. My kids (under 5) liked it because it had two touch pools - but there really isn't anything there reef related (i recall a lot of aiptasia though).
Anyways - have fun!.
