What types are there Color wise? Are they hard to keep? I read they need low light or a shaded part of a tank. What is ment by non-photosynthetic? Do you need to direct feed them like zoos?

I have seen yellow, orange, and black..non photo means they are not light dependent in order to survive..someone correct e if im wrong there..you do need to direct feed them..each polyp if possible..i feed mine mysis mostly, but ocassionly they get reef chili..

It's actually bacteria which gives most coral color.

Sun coral's don't. They are considered a higher experience level coral because of their need to be fed directly.

Also; you need to keep them out of direct light because they do not have the bacteria.

In many corals their color is caused by how their bacteria processes the light. That's why there are so many grass green colors
