Hi guys, Ive posted this in reef discussion and im having no luck so now its your turn. Just wondering if you can tell me what this is. When I set up my tank in Jauary my lfs let me have this small dead coral when i purchased my live rock. It had this on it but it was only tiny with 1 head. As you can see its doing well now considering it was transported home dry. Also if it helps it glows bright green in my actinics. [IMG]
Cheers guys.

Its Palythoa- real Palythoa, not what people tend to call Paly. Very hardy stuff- fast growing, can be invasive in small or densely stocked tanks. I like the stuff myself.

Yup. If the polyps grow from a mass like that, they're Palythoa. If the polyps are separated, as Hormig mentioned, they're Protopalythoa.
I haven't found the Caribbean species to be invasive, though.

Sorry to hijack, but what intensity lgihting would they spread best in... IE in my 29gal tank w/ 130w PC lighting would the top, middle or bottom make them grow best... i received some as a frag and love the colors of them
