I'm looking for a website that has fairly inexpensive base rock. Not sure how much I need, but it's for a 55 gallon. Can any of you suggest any sites that have good, cheap rock?
Thanks

http://www.marcorocks.com/

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/index.html Go to the eco rock.
Remember, with base rock you are buying all rock, and no water. So you need a lot less. IMO 35-40lbs will do.

Also look around at local stores. Places that sell reptiles often have mined limestone lace rock that comes in many interesting shapes. You can usually get it for around $1.00/lb. and don't have to pay shipping. A good washing and soaking in saltwater is all it takes to have some beautiful base rock that looks exactly like reef rock after a few months in the tank.

The rock from marco rocks may appear to more expensive but it's far less dense than what you will get anywhere else, which means more volume.

thanks reefergeorge. I just got 15 lbs of shelf and 15 lbs of pukani rock. Looks good in the pics, and the prices aren't bad. about $100 shipped for 30 lbs.
