I have a rather large toadstool and would like to frag it.
What do I cut and what don't I cut?
Is there any hints you fraggers can give me.

it is easy, just cut a piece off the top part (capitulum) with a brand new sharp razor blade and secure it to a new piece of live rock/rubble either with a rubber band or some string. Over a week or two's time, it will attach to the new rock and start to grow into a new leather coral for you. It is that simple.

So not the middle, just around the edges.
Thanks for the info

well if you wanted to make alot of frags, you could simply slice off the top of the coral, and cut that into many smaller pieces, each would grow into a new coral

but depending on your space, you can simply cut as little or as much off to keep the coral trimmed and grow new corals

Normally I'll take mine and cut a ring off around the top. That way you get a number of frags yet still have a coral that doesn't look like an ugly stalk left in the tank.

another easy way to attach them to rock is to take a toothpick and impale them to the rock, once they have naturally attached simply pull the toothpick out in a twisting motion. If you dont twist it out and just pull strait out it can come off the rock as it is attached to the toothpick as well. this method has always worked good for me but other methods can be just as succesfull.
good luck
