View Full Version : How/to - Stimulating Sponge Growth?

I've had my rock for over a year and I don't have much sponges left. My lighting may be a little too much; it's a dual 150 mh.
How can I stimulate more sponge growth?
Can I scrape some off the rock and transfer it to the reef rubble down in the sump with no light?

I would love to have heavy sponge growth on my rocks!
Any suggestions - please!

Lower lighting, good flow, and dose silicate.

How can I dose silicate? Isn't that harmful to the reef or is it a form of calcium?
