Is this kosher or is it too much for the size of my tank?

It is not to much light but you might have to control the heat with fans or a chiller

Thats a lot of light on a 35, but it can be done. I had a 250 watt hqi on a 29 gallon.
I may cause some heat issues and you will probably have to position the lights up higher than normal to keep from scorching the coral.

not by a long shot

there is no corals because its a new set up but I ran 175w single ended MH over a 19" tall tank with some of the highest par 175w bulbs available before this and I could have used 250w easily (the par of the bulbs used were just as good as many 14k 250w bulbs). I'm not sure how tall your 37g but above is a 30g (with 10g sump) thats 17 or 18" tall. Actual light wont be an issue at all, the only issue could be heat. its not on my tank with the loud large twin fans on the sunpod (only thing I dont like about it).
Dont go by adding up watts, go by tank depth. Unless your tank is some sort of shorty a foot tall or less 150w bulbs will never be too much, how many you run is just a matter of tank coverage and if you have an issue it will be heat.

You will be fine. That will be quite a lot of light for a tank that size though. Like was mentioned above, a fan will be your best friend over the summer, and keep an eye on corals that do not require much light.
