for the price, i'm extremely happy with mine. simple to set up. reliable too. going for 3 yrs strong, no complaints. there is better stuff out there, but again, for simplicity and price, can't beat it IMO.

I like mine, I got it a while back on a sale or something, like 220$ I think, with DC8 and serial port.

only thing I dislike, it has a seasonal lighting program, awesome, more and less light is fine... but I dont want the tank lit at like 6AM in the summer and dark at 8, and certainly not dark at 5 in the winter. but the most you can adjust it is 2 hours. I may abandon the seasonal setting entirely soon. causes even more problems if you wanted 2 or 3 photoperiods.

after typing this, maybe I should just lie to it about what time it is... offset it that way.

You don't have to use the seasonal lighting with the AC jr. For the price it is an excellent controller for basic needs. If you don't need internet access or two pH probes it should work out for you. If you do get one, definitely get the serial port so you can upgrade or use aquanotes on a computer hooked up to it.

Yes it will,
i was thinking about setting up my top off that way but why wast a slot of the dc8 when you can just go direct to the pump?

yes you can, any float switch with 2 wires will work, you need to plug them into pin 1 and 2 of the serial port

heres the one I use

MArin Depot said it did not the DC8 was 140 (aprox) and the unit was about 180 off the top of my head. They said RK2 260 came with the DC8?
