My return pump is a Mag 12. I have vinyl hose connecting it to my built in overflow. At the top, there is a PVC 90 elbow right before the outlet. The PVC 90 is about 4 1/2 feet higher than the Mag 12. The vinyl hose between the Mag 12 and the bottom of the built in overflow is 3/4" ID and has a couple of sweeping curves. Based on all of that, do I have too much pressure for a Sea Swirl 3/4"? The papers in the box say that I can only run 850 gph through the Sea Swirl without damaging it.

I have mine connected to an eheim 1260, which is only 500gph, and I have a gate valve to reduce the output about 25% and it is a lot of flow through the 3/4" sea swirl. The ss might take more, but I don't think my tank can. You could use a gate vale or ball valve to reduce the output a little bit. You will be surprised how much flow comes out of the thing.
