I was moving some rock around and I think this piece got beat up a little bit. It is about 5 inches long, has always been pretty healthy. Now it is melting away very rapidly, nearly half the coral is gone.

Should I toss it out? Will it spread?

The goo coming off is just white colored.

I have 5 other large frogspawns, hammers, and torches, all doing very well. All montis/acros are doing great.

Euphyllias, from my experience, are sensitive to physical damage to their exoskeleton. Cut away all heads that are melting away to prevent it from spreading and move the remaining piece to a low-med flow area.

Its already melted all away. Since it was an anchor type coral I could not really cut off the bad part, not to mention it was super thick, I would have needed a wet saw.

Sucks that I lost it, ive never seen a blue on like it.

Too weird! I just asked if anyone had pics of a blue hammer coral about 2 threads up! Sorry to hear yours did not make it, but is there any chance you have a picture of it you could post for reference?

I saw one once in one of my coral books that was a deep dark blue, but have never seen another one.

Sorry again about your lost, I'm sure it was an exquisite piece.

Here is a pic of it, doesnt show the blue as well as it could, though.
