probably dead, but sometimes they hide in their tubes for awhile.

In many cases feather dusters will drop their head if stressed and then grow a new head. Give it a couple of weeks to see if the feather duster is alive and growing a new head.

I've seen larger feather dusters pulled from their tubes by aggressors, but they did not survive. Chances are if it is not appearing after several days that it is dead

Is this a coco feather duster? They lose their crow when stressed or as a way of reproducing. he should grow a new crown quickly
