I have a corallife compact lighting system 260 total watts 130 regular light / 130 actinic tue 03. Whatis the benefit of the actinic blue if any. Should I change to all white I only have a colony of star polyps now , but plan on adding mushrooms, zoas, etc. I know I do not have enought lighting for SPS corals. Thanks

the benefit of actinic is to add a blue spectrum to your lighting, i think it helps with color.

Light looks blue under water in the ocean so the actinic lights simulate what the reef would normally look like. Makes colors pop on your fish and corals. However, generally speaking, as the spectrum goes up, the par goes down so you want to make sure your corals are getting enough light to flourish. Too much blue can be a bad thing if you dont have sufficient par.

Yea the blue light really makes the corals look awsome! It brings out some awsome colors.. Just turn on your blue lights and see how much brighter the star polyps look then turn on your white lights and you will notice the difference
