Hi...
This is my first post on Reef Central ...
I do reef since 3 years and I have a nano 10Gal...
My future project is a 60 gal with SPS and LPS and I asked the question of the skimmer.
I hesitate between the Bubble magus BM150 and H & S 150 F 2001.
For you, what are the strengths and constraints of each skimmers?
Which skimmer would you take?
Thank a lot...
:)

The bubble magus are a cheap BK rip off from China whereas H&S have earned their right as a formidable skimmer producer. I would always go for the tried and tested (ie H&S). You know what you are getting.
Also, the Bubble Magus runs of an Atman pump - not the most reliable or efficient.
I do have to add that I have never owned either but I am familiar with both of them.

H&S skimmers are built like tanks and have better pumps then the bubble magus skimmers but people seem happy with there magus skimmers as well. You might get better support though from the H&S????

welcome to reef central.

H&S is a high quality company with proven designs. H&S is among my very favorite skimmers.

I would NEVER consider buying a Bubble Magus over an H&S if I could afford the H&S. The H&S skimmers are well proven, extremely well made, and are far superior in every way to a Chinese product like the Bubble Magus.

The only slight "weakness" on the H&S 150's is the AB 2001 pump, which isn't that big of a deal, though some people have problems occasionally with them. For the most part they are hard working pumps, but you can say that they are not ultra durable and problem free like the bigger Eheim 1260's that H&S also utilizes, that 's for sure...!

I will be the BM supporter in here, not saying anything about the h&s as I never tried it.
I am using the BM100 on a 54G LPS and softies, build quality is great, better than most of the skimmers I saw in my short experience, the pump is doing what it is suppose to do, the performance is great, it did both very dry and very wet skimmate, it all depends how you tune it, but dry was the thickes I ever saw. I got mine from a Hong Kong dealer who is providing excellent support, I asked a question and one week later Eric sent me a free venturi and impeller.
If you decide to go in the BM direction, there is a thread about them that might help
Good luck

I would add that the H&S 150 might be over kill, they do make smaller ones that are even cheaper. Good luck and welcome

Agree, you only need the H&S A110 for your 60g system.

Hi and thank you for your welcoming ...

For skimmers, in france, the H & S and Buble Magus have almost the same price, they have the same pumps (aquabee 2000-1).

So for you, I must take h & S?

Thank a lot...

If they are the same price - definitely take the H&S

Have you looked at deltecs? I know over here in the states the H&S is a more reasonable alternative cost wise. But think in Europe you can get a deltec cheaper than H&S.
