rookie mistake

I thought I had rinsed the new filter sock enough, but apparently not. Now my skimmer's collection cup is filling up within 5 minutes of emptying. The reason I say it must be the filter sock, is that it was working fine before I put the new filter sock in. What could be the cause of this?

I doubt it is from the sock but the simplist solution is to remove the sock--you don't really need it with a protein skimmer

Did you feed something different to the display tank--if I use Reef Snow(an invert mixture) for my corals I have to shut off the skimmer or it goes nuts

I did put in some flake food, but I have been using it for a few weeks with nothing happening.

Could something else be causing this?

whenever you add food or any chemicals in your tank there is a high possibity that your skimmer will go crazy
