This brown wafer algae has gotten entirely out of hand in my 120 sps tank. It's to the point I'm tempted to take it down and start over with frags. I have a purple tang which doesn't touch it. Neither does my blue urchin. I can pick off the lose parts but it just grows back faster. Low nutrients doesn't seem to deter it.

I hate to recommend a chemical alternative but I have been reading about this new product. I have not tried it. The makers claim that it takes care of all algae even to the point where you have to remove the cheato if you grow it in the sump. I am still reading about it to see if it will kill coraline as well. That would be a shame.

I had this nonsense over a year ago and I'm 100% clean of it today. I recall pulling most of the affected rock and pealing/scrubbing them. The only thing ok with this stuff is that it peals off for the mostpart.

I am having the same problem. Bought a long spine urchin in hopes it would eat it but has not yet touched it. Tang nips a little at it but doesn't do anything. The rocks are large and in the base so removing would not be easy. I do have a few spots that coraline is starting to grow over it. Crossing my fingers that it continues and over takes the lobophora.

I can peal off some of it but not nearly enough.

I'm trying Marin Fauna Algae X. Here's the thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=12992666#post12992666

Good to know that a naso will eat it. I am relunctant to keep one of those in my 120 though.
