Dear All,

I have started a thread in the DIY section, that may be of interest to Nano reefers out there.

It occurred to me that maybe a lot of guys in this NANO forum would keep nano DIY stuff here and not look in the main DIY forum, so here is a link to the thread:

Bascially I am designing a closed-loop (pressurised) refugium with a built-in LED light source primarly for the growth of e.g. chaeto algae for nutrient removal - so a bit like a canister filter with a light, but properly designed for the purpose and ideal for Nano reefs.

The key thing for me with my own 28g Nano that I am going to setup is to keep it really tidy, so I wanted a chaeto reactor that would give me:

1) No need for a sump - closed loop pressurised

2) No HOB - ugly and difficult to service and see what is going on inside

3) Don't want to sacrifice filter compartments on back of my 28g

4) Be hidden in cabinet or other piece of furniture

5) Easy to service as can be removed entirely from cabinet and serviced in the sink

6) Give me extra water volume

7) Light not contribute too much excess heat (hence use LED)

Jeff Thurcheck from Lifereef.com is building it for me and if successful he says will makefor any other reefer that wants one.

So let me have your ideas and let's see what we can build!
