Ich or air?

I have a small 30 gal tank with lots of water flow and plenty of aeration.
I don't know if this is really a good thing or a bad thing. I have a venturi style skimmer that does surface skimming, but I don't know if it is really doing a good job since there are so many bubbles on the surface, there are also bubbles stuck to some of my rock and some of my weird little anemones. Now the concern is there are also bubbles stuck to my coral beauty. I have looked at some pics or fish with ich, but I don't really know if that is what it is. What do you think?

Thats air bubbles. I have them all over my freshwater aquarium cause of HOB filters. They push the air under the surface of the water. Plus you wont get ich on corals. Just on fish. I hve found that out. I would make a sump under the aquariun and get rid of the HOBs cause they can kill your corals. If air gets trapped under them they can get burned and die. Good luck

That coral beauty does have ich--I would quarantine as soon as possible and hyposalinate it.

Thanks capn, I was actually looking at that thread right now and we were discussing how we needed to deal with the issue since copper is a no-no in reef tanks.

But the floating things in the tank are air bubbles. Trust me I see them everytime I look at my freshwater and until resently I saw them in my DT Saltwater (cant call it a reef yet lol). Do like Capn said hes great at problem solving on these things for us newbs. Have you thought about doing a sump with a refugium in the bottom of your stand? It works great on getting out a lot of the air bubbles. I dont have a drilled tank so I have pvc coming over the top of the tank for the return. Good luck on getting rid of the ICH.

glad to help--have you any other fish in the tank?

Just a small green chromis and I will move him also to make sure my Display tank gets clean. Next time I will look at the other fish in the lfs tank closely before I buy anything. I guess thats what I get for acting like a kid in a candy store. Again, thank you for all of your help.

I thik your skimmer may be pushing the air bubbles dia it back until you no longer see bubbles coming out wtihteh outflow.

As for the fish, looks like ich in the picture but I'm not certain. If it is my preference is cupramine copper treatment in qt,preceded by a formalin bath.
