nighttime only apstisia?

one of my live rocks has some deep holes.

At night what looks like apstsia comes out of a couple of the holes. 1 of them is 2 inchs long total but the second light comes on it goes so far back in the hole I cant find it.

Is it normal to only come out at night? Is it normal to be so light sensitive?

when you say syringe it do you mean squirt the stuff at it or actually use a needle and poke into it?
