I have a 6200 stream that was just cleaned and when the controller ramps up to full speed makes a chattering noise. Could something need attention or perhaps replacing?

How old is it, what model drive unit do you have, 6100.60 or 6200.70, you can look at the two versions on tunze.com to determine this.

The unit is only a few months old but was the older style 6200 rather than the newer style 6201 (that's what I was told anyway by the retailer). Does that make sense?

Yes, probably you have 6200.70. The most likely culprit is the bush bearing 3000.62 has slid loose.

Do I need to replace it or reseat it so to speak?

Try prying it out, rotating it 180 degrees and reinsert it. Also, make sure the red oring (3000.612) is under the upper bearing- 3000.610.

tom - if it is not a loud noise (relative, I know) I may quiet down in a few days. do what roger said and if it doesnt fix it, just wait. Mine spontaneously got nearly silent after a similar problem.
