I'm quite sure the red & purple was a Favia, looked like what the hobby is calling Dragon Eye. The green one may be a Goniastrea. And both are favids, what the heck? Right? LOL
Whatever you call 'em they are good looking. BTW, where'd you get all the nice Lobo's?

If you don't mind could you identify the coral in the last photo? (Purple w/ pink eyes)

Favia correct? I have one identical when it was first sold to me, a fragged piece from the west coast. Did yours come from the same area by any chance? Mine has lost the real purple color, but has maintained the intense pink eyes. Awesome collection!

I get all of my stuff locally from A Reef Creation and Salt Water Paradise in Buffalo, NY. None of the lobos really looked the way they do now when I purchased them they all colored up really nicely. The last picture I believe is an aussie acanthastrea rotundoflora and is still quite new so is still coloring up. Its getting this amazing ooze green ring around the whole colony and the background gets more purple everyday!!! Thanks for everyones comments and ill be posting more pics of my LPS I love them!!!

nice lobo's
do you target feed the animals and what do feed them?

reefeasy
07/24/2008, 01:56 PM
Yes I target feed most of the corals every other day with a range of food such as coral frenzy, cyclopeeze, mysis, ocean plankton, spirulina brine, and krill depending on mouth size. I always target feed I think just putting a bunch of food into the water column is kinda like trying to eat a bag of skittles by throwing them all into the air and then trying to catch them in your mouth, JMO. People often underestimate the feeding capabilities and requirements of lobophyllia. They respond and grow much faster with feeding. They eat a lot too...I feed with a 5ml pipette and can feel a softball sized acan with the same amount ONE POLYP of lobo eats!!! Crazy.
