View Full Version : Show me your SHOW fish

I don't care if it's an Angel, Puffer, Tang, Eel, etc etc.

I want to see those BEASTS out there, and by "show fish" I don't mean expensive. It can be anything that when people see the tank they say, WOW look at that fish!

I'd have to say currently, my Mata Tang is my show fish.

Which Angel is that? I ask cus there's about 48 that look like that as juvi's...

And it is reef safe?? My wife has been pestering me for a Koran Angel for YEARS and I tell her no way, not in my reef. Your pic sorta looks like a Koran, but I'm no Angel expert and can't differentiate between the juvi stage pics.

Thanks!

WOW

Love the wrasse. And I have a question about the Watanabei Angel...is it reef safe? Or is it like Coral Beauty, Flame Angel type of reef safe? Like a enter at your own risk thing... I see a lot of folks with them and LOVE them, would want one, but don't want to risk it.

Then again, Tangs can be coral nippers too...so I don't know. If I were to get a Watanabei, would I get a female or male? What about a M/F pair?

crvz: I've had the Mata a little over a year.

HaKs310: That is that cool lookin goby that pairs up with a shrimp isn't it? I forget the name, but I LOVE that fish!! nice.

downhillbiker: Nice Tomini!

flying53brian: First of all your name reminds me of an old school WWF wrestler, believe his name was Brian Pillman and has passed on. Anyways, what fish is that? Angel of some sort? Reef safe? I see a FEW corals in there, any sps? I can see the flame hawk too, a buddy used to have a flame hawk in his reef. Never bothered corals, but he couldn't keep shrimp.

GSMguy: I meant, how big is the Rabbit now? Does he come investigate your arm/hand when it's in the tank? I had a similar fish a few years ago and it actually outgrew my 220. Brought it back to the LFS for credit. I actually breathed a little easier working in the tank after he was gone. I'd REALLY like to get a scribbled rabbit soon.

Wow I need a new camera! Mine puts white spots all over the image in macro mode. I tried all day to get my fish to sit still to take a pic but it wasn't happening. I guess I need a tripod and a remote. But anyway here is my Clarki "Giganticus" as I call her. Her mate is still small and I caller him Waggler. LOL this one was about 3/4 inches across when I bought her for 12 bucks like 6+ years ago. Expensive-- NO. Loved-- YES

And is my "Show" fish. But some people are amazed at my 3 giant Silver Dollars in the 55 fresh tank. Depends...

Sorry not a photographer. And yeah she is only a couple inches from the return. As you can see from her tail. She's THAT big...

Yes, they are reef safe and beautiful fish. Here is a good thread with several photos of them and other genicanthus angels:

The males and females look different. Here is the male:

Semper Fi 1959: I am glad that I am not that WWF wrestler or i guess I wouldn't be writing this, (LOL) The angelfish is a Venustus Pygmy Angel or Purple Masked Angel. No SPS corals, that's coming with my new tank setup.

Take care everyone!

the rabbit is about 3 1/2" now it is really shy only comes out when i am in the other room i am going to be re aquascaping my tank soon hopefully it will open up some space for him to feel safer coming out, also i am thinking a sandbed would make the fish feel more at home.

Yes my fish is an Emperor angel, my book says that they are suitable when very young but become destructive with age.
I will see what happens as it grows. I have other fish that are not that have been the same and had no problems with them, i guess it depends on the fish.
I am having a green hairy alge blow out at the moment and it is very hard to get under control!!

Closely followed by my Mandarin, who doesn't come out too often, so I think that he just doesn't get noticed right away:

Um, you can start by sending the jersey to me... ;)

I like your sig too...I HATE the Cowboys. Hate their fans too, they are so annoying. R.W. McQuarters in the end-zone...

Shockey was the ONLY offensive player I could get excited about. Well I guess that isn't true, Jacobs has that effect on me SOMETIMES...I love watching him just punish some tiny little DB trying to tackle him. But there was something about #80 that just got me all hyper and really got my blood flowing...the way he came across the middle, catch the ball, lose a helmet and lower his shoulder to take someone ELSE out. Loved his fire...always did. I'm a big UM fan, so I watched him in college. When the Giants drafted him, I was thrilled. The Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins all just got better by the Giants losing Shockey. Who's gonna punish Roy Williams now? Who's gonna jab with Brian Dawkins?

Was he a baby? Yes. Was he immature? Yes. Was he AWESOME though? Yes yes. He was MY immature baby. LOL He's one of those guys that if he's on your team, you love him...if he's on the OTHER team, you hate him. Ala T.O.

I haven't been this sick over a trade since the Mets got rid of HoJo.

Anyways...

dkirchoff: where's YOUR show fish?

SWaquariast: LOVE the goby/shrimp pair. I can't wait to add a pair to my reef. I just can't decide on which goby and which shrimp to get. And then I hope they burrow in the FRONT of the tank! lol
