I had it setup like what you were thinking.

nano on top,
20 long fuge
55 sump.

Worked out well. That was until I scraped it all for a larger tank. Looks ugly with all the wires, etc but I cleaned it up on the new tank.

Interesting. Let me get this straight, the 20 long fuge and the 55 sump were for that little nano on top?

Yes it was just for the nano tank, I also later added on a jbj 24gallon. My goal was to add several small species tanks that all shared a common filtration unit. Scraped the idea when I seen some large community tanks.

thanks was a fun project. I eventually had it set up with 4 tanks of various sizes. One was going to be anemone tank, a sexy shrimp tank, a sun coral tank, etc.

Started getting nervous about the idea of one of the drilled overflows getting a snail trapped and flooding the house.

My new tank is less complicated with redundency.

how does it work exactly, does the bottom tank pump into the nano, and when that overflows it goes to the next and so on? ever had any problems?

any others out there? 30g are sweet, just dont leave much space and id like to jam everything under the stand for a clean look.

Melev has built one

The great Melev did something like that, I guess I need to check it out.

Here is a quick diagram I made up.

As you can see water pumps into the main display and because water always finds it own level it slowly trickles through the systems.
