Just finished making my acrylic refugium 20"x18"x18" for my 180 fowlr that I just cant seem to get the nitrates below 30. So my question is what is the best macro algae for nitrate reduction, but can also be eaten by my tangs? I was thinking Ulva Sea Lettuce or Ogo. Are there any other algaes that tangs can consume? Also can I have more than one species of algea in the refugium or will they compete and release toxins??

Where are some reliable sources for macro algaes on the internet? I found Snailsbymail.com and ocean pro aquatics that had a wide variety of macros. Any one use them before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:)

try red gracilaria. your 180 fowlr would support it.

tangs might like chaeto although i don't know if it is really nutritious for them. my yellow and sailfin tangs love chaeto.
