Hello, My tubs blues have gotten smaller lately. They have also turned from a bright blue to a pale blue. I started running Zeovit about 4 months ago but I'm not sure that they were any better before that.
I have had them on the sand and maybe they are not getting enough light or could they be getting to much light?

This is a before pic. I don't have a current picture but will try and take one tomorrow if it helps.
I do have other Zoas that don't seem to be as affected.

Mine like it down low. When I had them high, they turned green, so I don't think your placement is the problem.

Tubs do tend to lighten in higher lighting but are pretty adaptable. I have them both in the upper part of my tank and the lower part under 250 mh 14k. the higher ones are a lighter blue.

I've never heard of tubs turning green before or for that matter anyother color but shades of blue. What lighting are you using?

I'm using T5s & they were a light shade of blue-green.
Definately Tubb's:

Def, tubs. But I have NEVER heard of them turning a shade of green. A first for me. how old are your bulbs?

This from your sig:

3X 400 watt Radium in Lumenbright reflectors, 4 39w T5 Actinics, 2 60 inch VHO Actinic

applies to the tank that they're in?

From what others is saying it makes sense. seems like the majority of tubbs owners say thier tubbs get lighter when placed in alot of light. Mine are somewhat the opposite, my tubbs are high up about 8 inches from the halide, maybe 4 inches below the surface and they're getting darker. I'm also only running a 150w ushio 20K lamp right now. I dont have a PAR meter but this bulb seems like it puts out less light than the 14k i had in there before. Maybe its the change in lamps that is making them darken?

I have a friend that places them a few inches off from the waters surface under 250's... Said they're bright as heck?

I guess a 150w halide isnt as bright as i thought it'd be.

I'm curious what bmwaaron meant by 'getting smaller' as well. are the polyps getting smaller? is the colony getting smaller? are they getting shorter? etc..

I have my tubs up high under my TEK T5 fixture and they do not lose any blue.

Hows the flow around them? Mine seem to like more flow.

Params? Any pests noticable?

The pic above does not look like tubs to me. Tubs are solid blue on the disc, completely solid blue throughout, and those are not.

The polyps are getting smaller, I would say they used to be around 6mm and now they are around 3mm round

My tubs blues colony started going down hill last week. Moved them to a high flow area and they came right back.
Don't know why they were looking bad, but they are looking great now.
