Green funk in skimmer

Ok I just cleaned out my skimmer last night. It had green funk in the collection cup. Is that what color its suppose to be? Are is something going on with my tank that I'm not catching on too? My parameters went crazy again this week so I am begining to get a little ****y with it. By the way if I dont ahve anymore nuisance algae growth does that mean that my tank is starting to settle in or that its just being consumed faster than it can reproduce? Need some answers. if you had algae die off that may be reason for the green.

sometimes when I feed greens more than meaty stuff the skimmer will reflect it, particularly with sheets of nori in the tank.
