All my mushrooms and ricordia are close to bottom of tank and thriving. Tank is 90gal bowfront lit with powercompacts. I do have 1 very red mushroom attached to a shell which I move every few weeks to see if I can make it happier. Do the red ones prefer more or less light than a green or blue striped discosoma or even a blue discosoma?

I have a red mushroom that I transfered from my main tank in my classroom into a pico at home because he wasn't doing to great. He was in a 14 bowfront with 70w MH and is now in a 7 gallon with 70w MH. He opens up huge now and is doing very well. So, to sum it up, yes, I would say the red ones like more light. My green striped ones do well in my 50 gallon with 250w MH.

i have noticed that my discosoma's close up when they are exposed to too much lighting and start going white on me...
I have green ones too by the way

My reds prefer direct med. to low light
Holy if your shroom are turning white they are getting to much light move them lower place them in a corner or create a cave for them to live in untilt hey get used to the high light and then slowly move them around until they are happier
