JBJ co2 regulator leaking

I have a JBJ Co2 regulator and it is leaking at the gauge.
I want to disconnect the gauge and use telfon tape to reconnect it.
Can I do that? I know this is a pressure system and I am not sure if it is ok to unscrew the gauge and re-screw it wuth telfon tape to stop the leak.

yes but it is better to use the paste instead of the tape
