The only decent shops around Baltimore are Exotic Aquatics in Parkville, MD and SeaSave in Glen Burnie, MD. Exotic Aquatics is a full service fish/coral store, and generally has a large, good selection of fish, corals and other inverts. This is my LFS of choice. SeaSave is more a specialty shop--small and focuses mainly on selling Florida Aquacultured live rock, but he does have some nice softies and LPS and is markup is small. For example, he sells Duncans at $20/head.
If you're up for a trip, go to That Fish Place in Lancaster, PA. They have a huge selection of dry goods at very good prices, and a very large fish/coral room although most days they are not any better than Exotic Aquatics.

Aquarium Center is now Aquarium Depot--changed hands last year or so. 20 years ago, this was "the" place, as was House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie. Aquarium Depot is a complete dump, and that's putting it nicely. Last time I went: the SPS coral selection was a single 20 or 30g tank with tiny frags, the softy tanks looked horrible--stuff melting, no selection--many fish were covered in ich and/or lymph, tanks had dead fish while employees talked in the aisles, BTAs were melting and housed under low light conditions. Further, I refuse to patronize a store that keeps a 4' nurse shark in an 8' tank and tries to sell it to the public ("$500--grows to 14 feet").
I honestly don't think the place knows what it's doing. Add to that that it is in the hiz-ood.
Trust me--as my wife will attest to/complain about, I have been to every store Glen Burnie and north 80 miles, and the only ones worth going to are Exotic and SeaSave. House of Tropicals sometimes has decent stuff, but it's hit or miss.
