I was just wondering wether it is possible to mod one of the all-in-one tanks (Nanocube, Biocube, Aquapod) to keep a caulepra refugium with 24 hour lighting to prevent yellowing. Thanks:D

You can make the rear chamber a refugium from what I hear. Dont have one set up yet but I'm planning on doing that with mine when I get it.

I'm doing that with Chaeto and underwater LED's for lighting. Any particular reason for caulerpa? Just curious. :)

Really? I guess I don't have to buy a hang-on fuge, do you know where you can find how someone did it. Also, about the Caulepra I just chose it because I hear about it being used alot. Is there one thats better than the others, or one that doesn't yellow or that filters really well? Anyways thanks for the comments!!

cheato works well because it doesnt break down dew to light or not enough food for it to survive its not neat to look at but is very functional

The problem with Caulerpa is that it can reproduce sexually, releasing spores into the water column. Using a 24 hour lighting period will greatly reduce the chance of this happening if not eliminate the chance altogether. It is more efficient at nutrient export than Chaeto, but I'd say far more people use Chaeto simply because it's safer. That said, I've kept Caulerpa without problem, but do some research on it. As for preventing yellowing, I don't believe macroalgae will do much for you there. It's mainly for nitrate and phosphate export. The best way to prevent yellowing is to run carbon. Personally, I've never had an issue with that with or without carbon.

I keep a ball of chaetomorpha in the overflow chamber of my Aquapod 24. I light it with one a 4 LED light strip from eBay(around $10).

Search eBay for "4- LED white Beam Bar Aquarium Lighting & Power" if the link doesn't work. I don't sell the lights. I'm just very pleased with my purchase.

I have three options for a refugium right now, and I will list them in order from most to least liked 1. Overflow Refugium 2. Modifying Back for refugium 3. Buying hang-on refugium. Which do you think I should do?
