Ok, anyone have any opinions on where my powerheads should go?

First a pic of my setup:

Now I have 2 MJ 900s with the mods that make them 1600gph. The return is now in the center (pic is old) and has a y split shooting left and right. The return is a mag 9.5 through a cooler, so its closer to what a mag 7/5 would do.

The powerheads are on a aquacontroller 3 with it set to random (will randomly turn on/off at various on/off intervals)

if you don't mind them mounted to the sides, you should try puting one on each side of the tank centered and facing each other and see how that works out.

The MJ mods aren't really made to be on a wavemaker or cycling on/off too much. You'll likely break the impeller after a while (plus it's noisy when they start up). I would just put them at opposite ends and point them at each other. This will give you turbulent and random flow throughout the tank.

So far they are working fine with no noise (AC3 uses softstart), however I was thinking about replacing them with the Koralia 4's

This is my water flow in my current tank setup.

I like it so far.
