Not sure what kind of sps it is but the thing has been loosing its color everyday and turning black and looking burnt. Should i just break the parts that are turning black and crudy off or will it eventually get better. When i first bought the sps it was like that only on about 25% on the right branch. Now it seems like its spreading through out the whole coral. Im thinkning if i break it off it'll stop the spread?

Anybody know what can be causing it

i have 8 bulbs t5. 54watts each
i dose 2 part by TLF
phos reactor i put carbon and rowa
octo 150

Tissue Necrosis, followed by algae taking over where the tissue once was, would be my guess.......

btw, looks like the left side of the pic still has some healthy tissue, IMO, I would frag the tips ASAP!

The coral in the back looking dead to me. How may rowaphos did you put in to your reactor? Rowaphos can drop you ALK when you add it. That can be just one of many things though.

i only use a little bit of rowa. It says a little bit can do a lot. Will frag. Thanks.

Black Bank Disease (BBD) is more prevalent in the warmers months. Hard to tell from the pic, but it does look to be the dark cyanobacterium over the recessed areas that causes it.

I would remove it altogether, as other injured/stressed coral in your tank is sucseptible to it. If you can save a frag or two, dip them in Lugol's solution for about 15 minutes.
