Is 380 watts too much light for a 24g aquapod. I have a Chance 2 get A 250 watt MH and two 65 watt CF cheap. Is That too much light to keep sps, lps and a clam?

I dont think so. Is there ever to much light for clams and sps.... but you might have to watch overheating though.

That seems crazy. Honestly when you are talking about that much wattage and that serious of a light on a 24g tank I would only consider price.
I am not positive but I am not sure if 380 watts will grow any better than 250 in that size of a tank.

just be careful when acclimating your livestock to the light if you get it and watch your tank temp as well

will this much lighting show up a whole lot on the monthy electric bill, why would you add that much lighting i mean geez is it really needed:eek2:

Mikes brings up a great point too. Halides will definitely make a significant and noticeable increase in your power bill. Especially if you go with the 380 watts.

I have a 250W MH over a 16 gallon shallow tank. It is great for clams and SPS but I can't keep anything else in the tank because the light is so intense.

An ATO is mandatory if you go with that large of a light over a small tank

ATO is an Auto Top Off. With a large light the evaporation is very high. I have 8 gallons per week of evaporation with my system.

I have 6 clams in my 20X20X9 tank under the 250 W MH.

Thanks for all the replies the only reason I would go with 380 watts on my 24 gallon is I could get it for cheap. I could get it for $150. I just want 2 buy it because its a good deal now. Im going 2 take my time in setting up my tank. Iv been lucky with my 12G, only having a snail die. But I want 2 plan a sump protien skimmer and cooling system. Its probally going 2 end up as a tank I can grow frags in eventually.
