+1. Mine never stops, and my sand has never looked cleaner! I used to stir approximately 12x12 inch section each day, change filter sock daily, etc, but I have been able to stop all of that since I got the Goby.
He leaves little hills, so if that would bother you, forget it.

BTW, I also have a Yellow Watchman Goby, and all he does is hide in the rockwork. I've seen him 2-3 times since the first part of June, when I got him.

Im gonna tag along since I need something good too. Will they get along with scooter drags? and will they deplete its food supply?

Valencienna longippinis is what i had he was great would never spill any on rocks or coral, he also ate algae (such as hair) and was very good. Not sure you spell his sci name tho. Sometimes called glider goby or glider sleeper goby.

I am thinking about getting a diamond goby to clean the sand. From what I have seen, they do a great job. I am just worried it will bother my jawfish and mandarin.

How do you keep a sand sifting goby fed during quarantine? I thought they would need to eat all the litter critters in the sand bed which you most likely wont have in a QT.

Pink spotted. hes the coolest looking IMO
you want aggressive?? here is your guy. This is what he did to my 8" chevron. He takes nips at any fish ner his den and makes marks regularly...this was one of the most notable though........
you probably meant aggressive sand sifter though and not just plain aggressive didnt you?? :) He does that too

FYI--Some of these gobies can be jumpers to plan accordingly. Don't ask me how I know :(

I like the golden headed sleeper. My only recommendation is to be absolutely sure that whatever sand sifter you get, make sure it will eat frozen or prepared food. They are notorious for starving to death once they have cleaned out the sand bed.

I've had luck feeding mysis shrimp in QT and the display. Good point Purple Haze, the diamond spots are definitely jumpers.

AKA Diamond Watchman gets our vote... the photo below shows "Homer" when he was a new resident in our 95G tank. He was 2" long.

We had to move him to our 180G as he is now over 4" long. He and a sand-sifting star take care of any diatoms on the sandbed.
The only time Homer ever jumped was when we intoduced a 6" Foxface Rabbitfish Magnifica into the tank... scared the poop out of him. Fortunately we were standing there when he jumped. I just picked him up and put him back in the tank... he's still in there, sifting away, and making lots of caves under the LR.

My diamond goby is amazing. He sifts the entire substrate in my 100 gallon reef every day. Several of my friends have had issues with diamond gobies jumping but mine has not.

do these guy pair with pistol shrimp? would they get along with one in the same tank? do they make huge hills like pistol shrimp?

I have cleaner shrimp, so I don't know. Mine makes small mounds sometimes, but mostly it just looks like lumpy sand. I tried to take a video just for this thread, but he ran away. He's not usually so shy!

Hmm, my pink & blue spot is a model citizen and he paired with the pistol.
I can't believe no one mentioned bullet or dragon gobies. My dragon never stops sifting.
