Skimmer gurus

Hi all,
I am currently running a DIY skimmer, 8" reaction chamber with a 4" neck. It is run by a mesh modded sicce. It works okay but I still think it could be better.

I have asked this question before but I didn't get an answer I figured I ask again before I do it. I have a mesh modded QO 3000 on hand and thinking about running it with my sicce on this skimmer. I will be making the neck 5" in diameter and about 7" high from the transition. What do you guys think. I am also debating as whether to install a bubble diffuser or not. The skimmer will approx be around 28" total height.

Not sure if this is better than my current set up so fire away with the suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, look at commercial skimmer designs and copy their specs...

If you have a second pump do a recirc mod to the skimmer.
