Just wondering the best way to cut some 1/4 inch glass that i have. I went out and bought a glass cut kit which had a cutter and oil. I practiced on 1/8inch glass and had no problems. Just when I stepped up to the thicker glass. Is it because it was a cheap cutter? I'm just scoring the glass once with some medium force, not to hard. Anyone have any tips?

cutting glass is very easy and any cheap cutter will cut 1/4in 6mm glass no problem you really dont even need the oil really i work at a float glass plant in michigan you wont run into problems until you hit 8mm glass at home you should have no problems

i'm far from an expert, but when i've done 1/4" glass i've done the scoring and then put a piece of wood right on the score line and clamped it to a work bench. firmly, but not too hard. then i've tapped along the line. has worked well.

Don't ever re-score the same line, you can (and will) damage the cutter. Just score once, with even and smooth pressure.
