new setup. PH ~8.2, alk >9

what could be the issue there? the PH seems fine, but the test kit suggests 7-8 for alk, and Im a good bit high. but AFAIK these should go hand in hand. alk is the buffer capacity to PH changes right? how do I reduce alk without changing PH.

The best means to reduce alkalinity is time. Just wait it out.

BTW: An alk reading over 9 is fine. I personally try not to go over 11.
