Thinking of getting some of this reference solution (http://www.aquariumobsessed.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AO&Product_Code=FM-MR100&Category_Code=) but I'd like a bit more info before I buy it.
Is the solution EDTA or NIST validated. What can you tell me of the accuracy of the soution.
I'd like to test a wide range of kits against this solution but I don't want to post inaccurate results if the solution is off. Make me a believer, why should I buy this product and trust the accuracy of the numbers that it indicates.
Thanks.

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for your interest on our product
We let produce this solution in a chemical laboratory of an university
in south germany. the solution based on seawater and not like other references on freshwater.
So the testkits have the same ionic problem with salt like in a normal tank.
We only use the reference for stabil parameters and not for
No3 and Po4.
We didnt use EDTA

fwiw, I;ve used the multi-reference test to check FM's K kit against the reference that comes with the Kalium kit - they matched. I've also usd the reference kit to check various
kH kits (API v. ELOS v. Salifert v. SeaChem v Marineland v LaMotte), Mg (Sali v SeaChem v ELOS),
Ca kits (LaMotte v ELOS v Sali v SEaChem)
against each other - they all matched as well, within reason (i.e. the dkH on the ref solution should be 6.6, on some kits with medicore resolution, they may have interpreted 6.5 or 7, or the ELOS mg which doesnt have the greatest resolution to match the 1275 or 1295, whatever the multireference solutin is) except for the one I thought was off (Seachem Ca). The specific gravity also matched what it should per refractometer.
I'll always keep a bottle of it around. Good stuff. It is a bit pricey, but when you think you have a kit that's off, ....

Hi Psam
Thanks for your statement
your right it is a little bit pricy this comes from the double test
which we need to make with every batch
and the saltwater base.
It is not so easy to create a stabil solution which showed after
longer time also the correct ammounts
