Is there? It's occurring very fast.

Is it bleaching (whitening of the tissue) or RTN (rapid tissue necrosis, tissue falling off)?

It's RTN. I don't know why it's occurring on the colony.

water params? is the coral new? water flow across the coral? lighting and placement of coral?

to stop the RTN you'll need to frag off the healthy pieces of the coral and reattach it.

How and why does RTN occur?

How and why does RTN occur?

There is no single reason. I suggest you do a search on RTN and you'll find several reasons. All the answers are here......not knowing the difference between bleaching and RTN means you have some reading to do :)

Well thanks to everyone's answer (timnnell).

As for jackson6745, I have been in this hobby no more than 5 months, not 10 years like you.

Which is why you'll find lots to read on BLEACHING and RTN. With all due respect, it'll be too much for jackson6745 to type out, and at best, it'd be too generalizing.

Don't take it as an insult. No need to defend yourself. I'm just telling you you have a lot of reading to do here. You will not get all the answers you're looking for by starting a thread like this. Many of the causes of RTN are in debate themselves. Why do you think you have such few responses to your thread on this busy website?
Anyway, take care. Didn't mean to sound condescending.
