I tried to use this tank in my 2nd grade classroom last year without much success. I think my heater got stuck on sometime the weekend after spring break and that killed my fish. During the first week of summer school, someone turned my lights on (I'm figuring) for the whole week. My water was so hot it was steaming when I opened the lid. It killed my rock, snails, and hermits. I would really like to use this in my room again this year but I don't want to set it up if I'm only going to have the same trouble as last year. How can I keep it cooler without the use of a chiller? Also, what is a reliable size and brand of heater that I can use in it. Thanks!!

I would get a stealth heater , I have notice they do not get insanely hot.

second a fan ! you may have to play with heater to get the right temp . ( depends on your room temp also)

I recommend you get the lights on a timer, and make it so the switches on the hood cant be messed with. I second the stealth, they are good heaters.
