I am considering upgrading to a Oceanic Ultimate or Tech series reef ready tank, about 100 Gal.
Their web site seem to suggest that all these tanks have a dark backing on one of the tank walls, instead of being clear on all 4 sides.
Does anyone know if I can get one of these tanks with all 4 walls being clear glass ?

Is it worth the extra big bucks to get an Oceanic ?

Thanks
Mike

As far as I know you can't get them without the black backing. And compared to Marineland (Perfecto), Oceanic usually are made better. Perfecto have some new 3ft wide deep dimension tanks out that are very nice though.

Tech tanks are rimless which is nice. I belive Oceanic was talking about lifetime warranty a year back, not sure if they implemented it or not.

I live right above D.C.

If you ever buy one invite me over one day please!

I visit the LFS in Silver Spring off of Georgia Ave. on the left going south.

Forgot the name.

For a while they were the only ones stocking pods.

I have the 90gal tech tank and I absolutely love the tank. The starfire glass front is crystal clear and the large center overflow allows for a lot of water to be pumped through it. The only thing I wish I had of done was get the 120gal. But all in all it is a very well built tank.

Its an extra six inches wider and I wish I had that little bit extra space to give the tank the appearance of extra depth.

They are eurobraced, as they have a 2-3 inch plastic brace around the top of the tank-nice looking tanks though

I have the ultimate series 90 gallon! I like the way it is built! I have only two problems with it! The huge glass center brace in the middle is a pain to keep clean for lighting, and the overflow is in a crappy place! Its is about 5in. from the side! This makes it hard to get my live rock to look the way i would like it! Im not sure how old my tank is, they may have changed it now! I wish it was a corner overflow! Also If your going to buy a new tank i would prolly spend the extra cash for the 120 gallon as well! The extra depth would be great!! Here is a pick so you can see the overflow in my tank! Good luck!

I like the Oceanic tech tanks and I considered buying one because I've only had Oceanic tanks in the past and I wanted Starfire glass, so this fit the bill. However, the only one I would consider is the 120gal because I didn't like the dimensions on the other tanks. If they made a shallow tank, I would have definitely considered one.

I love my 90g oceanic tech tank as well! The 90g works well for me due to a *very* specific size for an in wall setup that my wife wanted.

The Eurobracing is great as there is no center brace to disrupt lighting, the overflow in the center is great as previously mentioned, plus it has 2 holes for the drain and 2 for the return.

The Starphire is great and the overall build quality is fantastic.
