View Full Version : How can I mount a float switch?

I have an Aqua Hub Deluxe Auto Top Off Kit. I am trying to mount the 2 float switches in my sump. This kit came with a plastic moldable holder. The holder is not long enough to mount in my sump and keep the water level where I need it. It would keep my water level so high that the sump would overflow if the return pump failed. Does anyone have an easy idea on how to make a DIY mount for a couple of float switches (one a little higher than the other as a backup)? Also, this kit only came with one slosh/snail guard. Pictures could be great. Thanks for any and all ideas anyone may have.

I have a little bit of spare eggcrate and PVC. I can build it if I see pictures and maybe a little description. I just sometimes have a hard time coming up with a visual, that would actually work, on my own

aquahub sells longer moldable plastic holders. i made one out of an old mag float and some acrylic, but it's cheaper and easier to just order some holders from aquahub.

Just make a U shape with the eggcrate and some zipties. That'll do it.

Make an acrylic bracket. You can bend it with a torch.

I went the super cheap route and used a plastic electrical box from Lowes and an acrylic rod for opening and closing mini-blinds. Cost less than $5.00.

I like super cheap. How did you bend the mini blind rod? I don't have a torch. Can it be done with a lighter?

I did it over the gas burner on my grill, but a lighter, or even a stove element should be fine. I bent it around a scrap of 1"x1" lumber.
