Halogen Lamps

I'm sure this has been asked, but are Halogens usable in the reef aquarium???

I don't beleive they put out an appropriate spectrum for use in the aquarium hobby. I don't know of any data to back this up other than no-one uses them and no aquarium stores sell them.
