What is the best way to promote growth of the purple coraline? I have seen many tanks in here that are covered with it. From the glass to the rocks. I have a few pieces now that have some growth but the rest is almost a dark redish/brown and green color.
I have a coralife pc light with 2-65w 10Ks and 2-65w actinics with 4 led lunar lights on a 55g

keeping calcium in the 400+ range, alk in the 8-10dkh range and magnesium in the in 1250 to 1300s range would be good. if you have someone local to you that can scrape off some coralline in a little baggie to seed your tank would help

I dose Reef Code A and B daily and mine grows like a weed. Like stated above keep your Ca, Alk, and Mg in their desired range and it will take off.

how quick does it grow? I have two pieces that are 70% covered in it and can't tell the difference really. Will it grow from that rock to the next or does it just grow on any of the rocks at any time?

i believe there are spores that are released, correct me if im wrong though. usually scraping it inside the tank helps it spread to other places. it depends on the growth. my small biocube 14 had no trouble growing it on the backwall and equipment, but when it came to growing on the rock it never did. i never monitored the levels just did weekly water changes. when i had a 28 it grew a lot in my sump but not that much on the glass in the tank. i think its just something that varies in each tank

I use "CaribSea Purple Up" and the stuff grows like crazy

how long do you keep your lights on? I know that plays a big factor as well. I just want to make sure I don't run into one of the problems where a lot of unwanted algae grows and no coraline.

Try to find a piece of LR coverd in it. It will spread.

You could try purple-up.

How long has your tank been set up? It may take some time for it to get going, but once it does...oh boy, it covers everything. I've used purple up and once my coralline took off, I've stopped. Haven't used it in about a year. I get tired of scraping it off my tank walls and pumps

Tank has been up and running for 16 months, the LR has been in there since early July and lights were added 2 weeks ago.

I never did anything specail for mine and I always had trouble scraping it off fast enough. The more you scrape it the faster it will spread since it spreads the spores around.
