got a 20 gallon tank for a QT tank and then I read "hospital tank". Was wondering if I could switch back and forth as needed? I dont see why not if it is rinsed, seeing as if there is any meds in there (after draining) would just help the QT fish from the <insert location here>.

You mean using the QT as a hospital tank if the fish in it get sick?

just dont transfer any substrate (rock, sand, etc) back to the display if you use medications. Otherwise, they can be used interchangeably as needed.

I have never needed to use meds, but if I did I would just use them in my QT tank.

That's one of the main reasons for using a QT, so you don't have to medicate your display tank in case a new addition gets sick.

Just make sure none of the water in the QT gets in the display.
