I’m about to get my 29g Biocube wet for the first time. I should have the replacement piece from my ro/di unit and should be producing water tonight.

I want to order rock but after looking at a bunch of sites they all claim to have the best rock etc...

I have ordered all my supplies etc through dr foster and smith. I was looking at there live aquaria web site and they have "nano" live rock.

do you think I should spent the extra $$$ or should I go with something like

any other suggestions are also welcome, thanks in advance

I believe when they term it " Nano" rock its more smaller sized pieces that are better suited for a small tank and smaller weight boxes delivered. Boxes of just plain live rock can sometimes have pieces the size of footballs or even larger and it would be hard to get those in a 12, 24, or 28g size tank easily.

Unless you can specify to the seller that you need smaller size pieces the Nano packs may be the best bet or maybe you can hand pick at a local fish store......

Just grab yourself some fiji live rock from your local LFS, shouldn't cost more than $4/lb, doesn't matter if its too big, you can always break it up if you want, it's still gonna be the same rock.

I started my 29BC off with some aquacultured live rock from my LFS..it looked good at first but it turned out to be lava rock that had been cultured in their tanks..had a reddish hue to it. Made the tank way too dark looking...when I broke my cube down and redid it, I used some fiji rock and it brightened it up 100%, along with the caribsea pink fiji sand, TOTAL TRANSFORMATION.

Good luck with your cube, you are gonna love it.
