Just a simple question. I think I spotted a baby frogspawn growing from the base of the skeleton of my frogspawn. But I'm not sure.

A Pic of the frogspawn:

of the "baby":

If this is a baby, how will it get light/grow when its under all those tentacles? blocking out all light.

Thats a baby alright. It will do fine. They get enough light to grow.

Oh cool. How fast can It grow? Like, will it take up to a year or more to grow to the same size?

And is there any way to frag it? like...cut it off? not now, but when it gets a little bigger?

When it gets a little bigger you can either break or cut it off.

I've accidentally fragged mine by moving it several times.

It will most likely take a year or more to get near the size of the other polyps.

Cool, thanks. I'll be keeping an eye on it. I think I spotted maybe one or two more too.

If they're doing real well, you'll start to see babies in a ring around the head towards the bottom of the flesh.

most of my babies like that stay real small unless I frag them off. When I frag them they take off pretty quickly since they start getting way more light.

Thanks RokleM, I think thats happening :D I took a peek with a magnifying glass at night when it was closed and saw a bunch more :D It's so exciting. I guess its cuz I've been feeding it so much food. I've gone from maybe 4 heads to about 10 (not including the babies) in around 3-4 monthsish?

And I'm thinking of fragging it maybe when it gets bigger to make some money off of this. Can I just cut it off with scizzors or what would you all suggest? Not now, but later when it gets bigger.

Best way I've found to frag branching euphyllia is with a dremel and diamond wheel. Nice clean cut through the skeleton. They are suseptable to the skeleton splintering if you try to cut them with any kind of scissor type cutters (dykes, bone cutters, etc.) The babies can sometimes be fragged off carefully with a small screwdriver, basically chipping the piece of skeleton with the new polyp off. CAREFULLY is the key word in that last sentence. ;)

i dont think ill frag it now, that'll probably kill it.

Check with your local Sears Hardware, Lowes, or Home Depot for the dremel tool. The diamond wheel accessories can be found there, or ebay (best prices).

Any recommendations for which kind I should buy? I have no idea what I'm looking for on ebay.

I got mine quite awhile ago. I dont think we are allowed to post ebay links anyway. Just look for one that says it works with the dremel. I got the bigger ones. A couple inches in diameter.

I used to spot feed them this food. I forgot what its called. Heres the thread I found the food from, its excellent and speeds up the growth of my corals in a freakishly fast way :D
