It is called a skillet fish. Very hardy, eats small crustaceans and prepared foods, gets about 6'' max, and is peaceful towards anything it can't swallow.

Where did you get it from? Looks like it would make a really cool species tank!

It is a really cool fish, with a lot of character too. A lot of customers ask about it when they come into the fishstore. I tried looking up some infor on "skillet fish" but nothing came up.

Skillet fish are common inhabitants of oyster bars in brackish water. Yours is a marine, probably tropical type, but it is undoubtedly a skillet fish. I had more results typeing it as skilletfish. Here is link on the ones common to the Eastern Shore.

Ive never heard it called a skilletfish- might be a regional name. You may find more information as a Clingfish. Note that there are 2 different groups of fish commonly referred to as clingfish though; they look VERY different from one another, and dont act anything alike. Gobiesox is the proper genus though.
They dont seem to be overly aggressive, though they do tend to eat whatever will fit in their mouths (small shrimp, very small fish, etc). Most commonly imported species only get a couple inches long, though there are some out there that can hit 6" or so; all of them have mouths that are Very large relative to their body size, so choose tank mates carefully.

Hmmmm...WAY COOL!!!!
Are these related to Lamprey's? Aren't Lamprey's the fish that stick to sharks and other fish to go along for the ride and to grab morsels of food not eaten by their host?
Eitherway, one cool fish!!!

Lampreys are blood suckers as adults and they, like salmon, spawn in fresh water creeks, streams, lakes, and rivers, live on detritus and small organisms, than migrate to the sea and suck blood. I am failry certain the skilletfish is most closely related to toadfish.

Mistaken then, guess it's not lampreys that I've seen on the belly's of sharks catching a ride....anyone know the name of those?
