View Full Version : Is my Sea Hare Dying?

I'm kind of confused with my Sea Hare's behavior in the past day or two.

So he's eaten every last bit of hair algea in 4 days that had dominated my tank. He was hungry for about half a day (no algea)

So I went out to get him some dried algea for him to eat from the LFS. He ate it all up.

I went to bed, the next morning, I couldn't find him. All the algea was gone, and his poop was everywhere. Then later I found him burried/hiding under the sand near where he slept. I don't know if he burried himself, or my goby did.

So I took him out, and put him on the rock. hes still alive, but hasn't moved from that rock. I'm afraid he's going to die or got sick :(

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks. I'll keep updating on how he does.

Update on the Sea Hare:
It's moving around, and seems happy, but I'm just wondering if they commonly burrow into the sand bed?

Yes. It's a common behavior for some species.

mine used to do the same thing. but then again i never really had any luck keeping them alive past 6 months. maybe they starved....

I have 3 and they sleep under the sand, on the rocks and tank wall.
